I deliver to about half the schools from the King/Snohomish border, both public and private (mostly public). Some districts have much better security than others, some have none at all. There is no statewide law that mandates detailed security policies. Current legislation is incredibly vague and leaves too much room for districts to have virtually no security.
All students and parents should know that ALL districts are providing them with sufficient basic security standards. That means schools have security at least as good as the local grocery store or movie theater. My experience as a delivery driver is that many don’t. This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with money. I see less wealthy communities with good security, and more wealthy ones with none. Some districts prioritize security better than others, this needs to be a priority for ALL.
